Cavatelli are a type of pasta. The term cavatelli has two meanings: the most common meaning is small pasta shells that look like miniature hot dog buns. It is similar in shape to casarecce, but shorter in length. It is usually served with meat sauce. In some areas of Apulia they are called “capunti”.
