cantineaperte13Cantine Aperte is back this year on Sunday 25th May, organized by the Movimento Turismo del Vino and involving more than a thousand wineries across Italy.
This great celebration of wine and its territories will see over 40 wineries in Puglia – from Daunia to the Salento – welcoming wine lovers and wine tourists from morning to night, with a combination of wine-tasting plus cultural and fun events.
“Cantine Aperte is the Movimento Turismo del Vino’s best known event,” – says President of the MTV PugliaConsortium Sebastiano de Corato – and wineries have been opening their doors for 22 years to tourists and wine lovers, so that they can meet the producers. Year after year – continues de Corato – this event has consolidated its success thanks to the excellent standard of hospitality guaranteed by the Movimento’s member wineries; our region has experienced an extraordinary growth in this sense, and consolidated a reputation making it one of the exceptional wine tourist destinations. For the 2014 edition – concludes the President – the activities which the Movimento Turismo del Vino presented at Vinitaly will also be promoted in Puglia to celebrate our wine festival: the Cantine Aperte soundtrack and the “Made in Carcere” bracelets”.
Music will have a leading role at Cantine Aperte all over Italy, thanks to the contest #suonodabere contest (it is still possible to enter, and the regulations are on www.mtvpuglia.it). This is aimed especially at a younger and dynamic age group interested in the social networks, and increasingly interested also in wine and its territories. The winners will be drawn on the day of Cantine Aperte, and the prizes are three fantastic weekends in Movimento Turismo del Vino wineries.
“Chiaro e Tondo” is the result of partnership with the “Made in Carcere” brand, and brings together correct wine-tasting with support for “Officina Creativa”, working to help rehabilitate female prisoners in sixteen Italian gaols. When visitors buy a wine-glass in its carrying pouch (5 euro) – a must for tasting the many wines on offer during the day’s events – they also receive a free “Made in Carcere – Cantine Aperte” bracelet. The bracelets offer a “second chance” also in the sense that they are made from recycled materials in the women’s prisons involved in the project.
The Movimento Turismo del Vino Puglia will also be taking care of the environment by promoting sustainable travel with carpooling, in partnership with Bring-me (www.bring-me.it). Download the app (available in the Apple Store and Google Play Store) onto your smartphone or tablet, and then choose one of the five available routes and share a car with other wine tourists interested in the same trip, helping reduce CO2 emissions and atmospheric pollution. Another way to discover Puglia and its wineries in comfort and safety is aboard the PugliaPromozione wine bus: five routes across the region from Daunia to the Salento, all free and in the company of an expert wine guide (for info and bookings 080 5233038 – turismo@mtvpuglia.it).
Cyclists will be able to follow the wine and nature bike trails with Ruotalibera (www.ruotaliberabari.it) and Cicloamici (www.cicloamici.it).
As every year, visitors to the wineries will be able to taste the hundreds of labels offered by our member wineries, ranging from the important vintages to the latest market newcomers. They will also find a wealth of cultural events, games, shows, art shows and gastronomy, including workshops and mini-courses under the guidance of wine experts and sommeliers. For further info about the wineries taking part and the latest updates on all the events in the wineries, just take a look at www.mtvpuglia.it and follow the social networks (profile and fan page on Facebook and Twitter).
Cantine Aperte is a registered brand belonging exclusively to the Movimento Turismo del Vino, and is legally protected to prevent any abuse/ imitation and to ensure that consumers receive a professional standard of hospitality, the distinctive trait of MTV wineries.
The event is organized in partnership with Regione Puglia – Agro-Food Resources Office and PugliaPromozione.
