They left from Puglia in search of fortune. No, they have not crossed the national boundaries but they have sought a way to redeem themselves, a way out of the crisis and they did it in Rome, where they brought the flavors of Puglia creating a small food chain named ‘Pucciami’.
Apulian flavors are genuine, the colors fill the soul and the eyes, smells evoke memories. A group of guys from Taranto had a winning idea. They ‘colonized’ the Italian capital with a true landmark of Puglia, the puccia, a type of round bread typical of the Salento area.
In the menu of Pucciami there are pucce which names recall the cities of Puglia. Pucce, panzerotti, focacce, hot dogs, sandwiches with hundred types of fillings. There are also wines and handcraft beers made in Puglia. The names of salads are dedicated to the streets of Taranto.
‘Among our clients there are many Apulians, Romans and tourists that want to try our products. They ask what ricotta forte and caciocavallo are. They want to try how puccia tastes… but puccia cannot be translated. Puccia is puccia all over the world,’ Anita Nuzzi says.
